"Pittsburgh, which seems to be the Galapagos Islands of American dialect."

michele sent me an article, complete with mp3s, about dialects in america. we are apparently the freaks of it all....
the post gazette had an article about the n@ stickers, complete with a list of links about pittsburghese

a few more

there are a few more photos in my flickr acct, nothing too exciting...

cd trade news

so, i think i mentioned that i did a cd trade. i created and burned my cd last week, i hope my trade partner was happy with it....

here's the final product, while the music didn't have a library theme, the packaging did:
cd trade/ packaging

cd trade/ track listing

the track listing was done in the format of a check out card. i have since acquired real check out cards, so i think that'll be fun in the future.

i got my cd last week too, i haven't had time to listen, but here's what my partner made me:
cd trade, what i received

trouble.

gilbert

gilbert

gilbert has become obsessed with sitting on the step stool in the kitchen (for us short folk). he also loves to sit on the stool and have people comb him. if you walk away with out giving him proper attention, he will likely swat at you and try to claw you. nice. we have raised such a respectful cat.

bill at the club

finally, i have uploading some photos to share. i swear this summer has been lazy central, but with work and school too. i don't know, i feel busy, but i guess i don't feel like i am accomplishing so much, so i am also lazy, make sense?

i went to bill's club last weekend for community day. it is more up in the mountains, further from civilization. there are a lot of people who come down to check out the club, i imagine that it's pretty big excitement for them, which i guess is nice. hm.

guess it keeps bill of the streets, right? a few years ago, natasha, dana, j and i went on a "train robbery" trip, it was crazy. i wish we had photos of that.... sorry.

the final 21 minutes of elizabethtown are amazing. totally fantastic. what was the deal with everyone hating on this movie? did anyone else bother to see it? i am a sucker for cameron crowe "moments" and little details so i really got into it.

phipps

so i haven't been to phipps in years but i hear the cafe there is really nice since the renovation.  so, pgh folks, check it out: http://www.phipps.conservatory.org/menu.htm

maybe i am the only dork reading this (aside from other dorky library students..)

but the new pew study on blogging is out.... woo hoo. guess it was interesting to read about bloggers, what they read, what they write about... anyway.

nice, huh?

check out the place we are staying in florida, guess it will have to do, right?

7.11.2006

oh yeah.

i am doing a mix cd swap, we'll see what i get in exchange. i need to make the best mix cd ever this weekend.  unfort. i don't have much info about what the person likes/ doesn't like. therefore they will get what I like...

update of the century.

not that there is that much to tell.

got a coolio necklace from the arts and heritage festival. it's a piece of a dictionary that says "bookish". check out the website for more info: http://www.junxtaposition.com/

went to a 4th o july party at a family friend's beautiful house.  amazing.  a former prof. was there, she was delightful.  so much fun.
i met someone at the party who will be a grantee for the place i used to work.  his advisor is my old boss.  weirdness.

class last weekend. only one more weekend to go.  coming to the end of my work for the summer, sort of, i guess.

i am going to florida in october.

famer's market today.  onions are on the list.

i sewed a shirt-dress/ thingy last week.  i think it needs taken in some, but i dig it otherwise.

my schoolmate gave me a bag of the most amazing ties ever.  they are pretty wide so they are perfect for making change purses.  her husband collects old ties and he needed to minimize his collection, so she thought of me. how sweet. i will have to make her something extra fancy.

people are f-ing crazy.  yes, i know it's been said before, but somehow it really hits home now.  people are crazy.

7.09.2006

i wish i had more to tell you.

but i really don't. maybe i'll do a recap tomorrow, eventhough it will be massively boring, only if anyone cares, really...

dillema

it's time for the headphones.  the place where i am doing my homework is playing dark side of the moon.  we all know that when i hear dark side of the moon i automatically feel car sick, car or not.  (sorry, is this not new info? sorry if it's a duplicate).  i associated that record with taking family car trip when i was little and feeling ill (i was always a bad car sick, never throw up- just feel rotten kind o gal).  yeah, so i think if i want to get rid of this, i'll need to see a hypnotist or something...
