take it away tokyo

so my fanbase in japan asked a while ago when i was going to post the legendary "best of 2005" list. well, i haven't completed all of the lists yet (yes, i am working on it, really...) but i do have these two "best" lists to post.

Guilty Pleasures of 2005
i'm totally not afraid to post information about my guilty pleasures of 2005.

1. Nine Inch Nails, the hand that feeds.
finally trent reznor makes another song i can dance to, 16 years after head like a hole. (yes, i checked the math on that, it was really 16 years ago kids....)
2. Head Automatica, beating heart baby.
sure this song is from 2004, but i didn't hear it until 2005. another dance hit.
3. My Chemical Romance, helena.
such a dramatic song, boys with makeup. how could i not fall for this song exactly? also, technically from 2005 and i did hear it in 2004, but... i'm gonna let it slide.
4. morningwood, jetsetter.
urgh, the name is just terrible, but the song is (mostly) goodness. some of the lyrics are a bit iffy to me, but in general i dug this song. i did buy the album cheap cheap cheap as a promo copy at amoeba.

biggest dissapointment of 2005
1. foo fighters, in your honor.
i have been mad for dave grohl since forever, but i don't even listen to this album, or double album, whatever. the main thing was that it was impossible for me to burn it to be my mp3 player (thanks, media protection encryption garbage!!) and it never even had the chance to grow on me. plus, you know i was immediately turned off by the whole best of you song. it just stunk of growing soft and lame. hopefully dave can get back in my good graces, he already blew it by getting married and having babies (i can't have a rock star boyfriend who is married, i'm sorry, i have morals here people....), but maybe musically he can come back into my life... we'll see.

only in library school

library school seems to be one of the only places where the word ephemeral is overused. i dig it, it is a good word. i went to a lecture yesterday that used ephemeral quite a bit.

recap

do you even care what i did last weekend at this point???
friday was snb with the obligatory night out afterward, i didn't stay out too late b/c i was tired and wanted to stay well. snb was busy again, some new people again or some people who hadn't been around for a while. cool indeed.

saturday i met up with a friend from high school. it was cool to catch up. i hung out with natasha for a bit but again went home early, mainly b/c i was feeling run down by just surrounding weird stuff.

sunday was stiller central around. i went to the grocery store and target during the game. i purchased a $5 pair of brown flats, which i have been seeking for a while. coolio. late late late sunday evening was when the crazy flu arrived, staying somewhat around until yesterday. monday is a blur which involves me sleeping for about 36 hours straight...

that is all. no plans for the weekend, just catching up on worky.

laters

how will earl ever cross stuff off his list??

Four jobs you have had in your life:
1. i worked a mall kiosk during college. it was really weird, you couldn't leave the booth so there were no breaks, illegal i am sure, and you were in the middle of the mall so during xmas it was tremendously claustrophobic to say the least.
2. i was an intern for various political peeps in this area and i worked on (i.e. was paid) a few campaigns as well. oh, my past lives....
3. i worked in dc for 4.5 years for a non-profit in international education.
4. i worked at giant eagle for about 2.5 weeks as a bag girl (it should be noted that i had been accepted into the cashier training program....)

Four (random) movies youcould watch over and over:
1. almost famous. i just love that movie. i do watch it frequently.
2. pretty in pink. what about prom, blaine?
3. garden state. a newer title, but i can still watch it lots. when it first came out on dvd, i watched it plenty.
4. seems like old times. a fabulous tale of hijinks involving the original kate hudson (aka goldie hawn) and chevy chase.

Four places you have lived:
1. north huntingdon
2. erie, pa
3. laurel, md
4. dublin, ireland

2. grounded for life, i'll watch the re-runs. and then after, secretly watch gilmore girls.
3. my name is earl, a recent addition
4. i don't know. that's about all, maybe sopranos...

Four places you have been on vacation:
1. new york city. i actually have only been there twice and both were really recent.
2. la. m lives there now so i visit. when we go to coachella, we hang out in palm springs, it makes it sound even more ritzy. the hotel we stay at has the best pool in the world.

4. san fran. with natasha back in the day.

Four websites you visit daily:

Four of your favourite foods:
1. i like english muffins or bagels.
2. coffee is good.
3. sometimes omlets (really just cheese omlets) are cool.
4. pumpkin cheesecake

Four places you would ratherbe right now:
i don't know... it's ok here for now.

Four Bloggers you are tagging:
1. i don't know any bloggers aside from angel and michele... anyone else can just play along, ok? not a mandate.....

what, no coffee??

today was the first time since saturday that i had coffee. it was weird. it almost like i am not supposed to drink it anymore b/c i got my coffee, had a sip and then a bug flew into it. i stopped drinking it....

lady... not the song by kenny rogers

Today, the wonderful "lady boot" arrived in the mail. the search is over kids, i'm keeping her. i dig them.
also, it should be noted, that gloria's is hiring (for a while the billboard said "hireing" whatever that is...). if you know anyone...
i started work today, and it was great. i really dig the people i work with and the work is at least interesting, so that's a relief. it was so nice outside today that i decided to take the bus from point breeze to sq. hill to look at shoes (they're always on my mind, really) and then walked from sq. hill to school. i wish every january day was a pleasant as today was....
tomorrow is snb and then i assume there will be some red star action. i was kind of taking a break from the going out, but i am ready to go out tomorrow night, maybe it's the weather? anyways. over and out.

bert

Bert
You scored 77% Organization, 51% abstract, and 37% extroverted!
This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are very organized, both concrete and abstract, and more introverted.

Here is why are you Bert.

You are both very organized. You almost always know where your belongings are and you prefer things neat. You may even enjoy cleaning and find it therapeutic. Bert is a big neat freak and gets quite annoyed when Ernie makes a big mess.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Bert is probably a bit more concrete in his bottlecap collecting addiction and his love of the weather. He does show his abstract side when he sings and performs his "Doin' The Pidgeon" song. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course.

You are both introverted. Bert can be grumpy and doesn't get along well with most other folks. Often he gets frustrated by their ignorance. For whatever reason you are uncomfortable in social settings. You may have one or two people that you are close with. You'd rather do things by yourself and you dislike working in groups where things are always so inefficient.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Snuffleupagus
Ernie
Elmo
Kermit the Frog
Grover
Cookie Monster
Guy Smiley
The Count

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!

recap of sorts

not much to really recap....
i have decided to drop one of my classes. unfortunately, it seems that my advisor is no where to be found... i don't know what to do since today is the deadline... hmm. yeah, i'll be sticking around school for an extra semester, but it's cool.

i was sick for about 10 hrs. this weekend, then felt much better. i didn't really go out aside from dinners with friends. i had a lot of reading to catch up on, so i was pretty solitary this weekend.
ok, that's all.

1.14.2006

rotten

that's how i feel right now. sick, like maybe i swallowed glass or razor blades, tired and just plain rotten. blah, i hate getting sick.

isn't editing joyous?

I could of been prize fighter

i found a stills concert on demand today and almost peed my pants upon watching it. there was some dancing around the living room. that is all i can say. the following thought went through my head: i would marry the entity known as the stills.

1.08.2006

i wanna have some fun (formerly known as f i say)

weekend recap:

Friday was snb and it was a wild crazy time with lots of new and former members. since i have been going, it was the largest group, not too crazy. we even had some males attending, one knitting, one just visiting. we had one new person learn how to knit and actually make something while she was there. hopefully some of the newer people will keep coming back. natasha and i were there for nearly 5 hours, closing out dv8 at 11. i had said i wasn't going to go out afterwords, but i buckled like i always do and ended up just meeting up with one of our new knitters, h and gabe. it's a new year and i need to stick to some of the promises i have made to myself (not resolutions, b/c that is not what i am into, so i am just trying to be a better person and do good for myself), so i am trying at least. i headed out early and went home.

saturday i lazed around and met up with natasha and d and jh for dinner at red star (again, that's where i ended up fri. night too....) and then met up with h to hang out. we did the cruising of the bookstore and she suggested that we go roller skating here. it was a lot of fun, i only fell twice, which was cool. they did not play any samantha fox songs (side note: the title of this post is a homage to my olden skating party days which inlcuding many samantha fox songs, songs that i never heard outside of the skateland, but they are still burned into my memory). i think i like roller skating, it was a fun thing to do eventhough i was scared about falling and getting hurt.

so that's all i got. as you were....

i just typed a giant blog entry and it was deleted. you know i am dropping the f diddy in my house like crazy, but i don't want to subject the rest of you to it right now.... i'll rewrite another time. just remember knitting, roller skating, samantha fox, and red star. that's about all.

oh, crap. another precious collectible destroyed

g. just shattered my "class of 1995" fabulous "crystal" keepsake thingy, what to call it, a candy dish, a jewelry keeper, a glass box? i think i might have been the remaining member of the class to still have this keepsake. shattered into a million pieces. does anyone still have theirs?

so school is back in session, my classes yesterday seem like they'll be good. it's hard to tell, you know?
got to catch up with some of my "school friends" and talk about what we did over break (me: nothing, them: lots of stuff).
tonight is the first stitch n bitch of the new year (if you want to come, we'll be at DV8 started at 6, i know some of you are in places like japan and that just won't be possible...) then tomorrow there are rumours of possible bowling extravaganza 2006. i don't think i'll be able to stay up/ out late tonight, i am feeling the laziness that comes along with school- there will be no 4 am dennys trips for me.... i swear it.

i know i've blogged this photo before, but i am running out of exciting photos people.... i'll have to get some stuff going soon.

1.04.2006

back to reality

i totally enjoyed myself over break doing lots of reading and knitting and talking mainly.... it was great to be with friends without thinking about what else i had to do and i was pretty much a perm. fixture in natasha's studio. she may be happy to have her space back to herself now...

i don't have classes today, just work, it is so depressing that break is over never to return until i have a job and have vaca time. urgh.

i guess the "enjoy it while it lasts" thing is the moral here.

1.01.2006

You want to jump & dance,But you sat on your hands,& lost your only chance Go back to your hometown,Get your feet on the ground,& stop floating around

not to be totally lame and nostalgic, but 2005 was honestly one of the biggest years yet for me. i made major life changes leaving my job of 4.5 years, moving back to my hometown, and getting back to school. i have learned a lot, and am feeling comfortable with school finally and sort of being comfortable with being back. there are some people who met this year and now don't even know where they are, and there are some people that i am lucky to still have around and others who are new in my scene. i guess the moral is that it was a very emotional year and one ripe with change, but it is all for the best.

Happy new year!

Happy new year!

did you make your resolutions? i didn't, except to be a better, nicer person.

poor n got ill last night so the "party" was cancelled there and i went to h's house for the first time. we had a good low key night where we of course wore tiara's (mine from my b-day celebration, complete with mini- ninja) and h with her recently purchased fancy tiara. good times, but we kept wondering if n was feeling any better...

today was spent trying to catch up on sleep and cursing myself for not inlcuding something in d's xmas package which was mailed yesterday. guess she'll get another package. i suck. my hair ended up looking like an insane person today, i am unsure how it got to be so giant, maybe it had made a resolution to be that way.

school is back in session later this week, i feel this slight feeling of not accomplishing what i had said i would over break. i did get to hang out with friends a lot and that's always good. it's a short week for school. i guess to ease us back in...

what else... did i blog about friday yet? h and i went to the skatepark benefit thing and felt incredible old and weird, we ended up talking to some people we knew from gbg, etc, so it turned out ok. i got to show h such landmarks as the lamp, irwin news, and cafe supreme! we also met up with some peeps in gbg after and hung out with people who had been mia lately, it was good.

i am rambling, so that is all. hope everyone had a good new years and are sticking to their resolutions. xo
