here's the wrap up of the weekend.
last night d and i went to the wilco/ roots show at merriweather, a glorious outdoor venue (much like star lake for the pgh. folks). d and i didn't get tickets right when they went on sale as per usual since d was having visitors for the weekend and we weren't sure we were going to go to the show, or maybe we were going to get lawn seats. so a few weeks ago when the visitors plans were set and they were off to the airport before we would have needed to go to the show, we decided to see if there were tickets left. assuming only lawn would be available, we both checked ticketmaster and got these row F tickets. i assumed that was probably 6 rows back from the pit seats, so good seats. ok, we get there and look at the tickets and we actually have pit seats, 10 rows back. how sweet is that? we were the last row of the pit, so it was kind of weird b/c since the people behind us were up a few feet, you couldn't even be sure how many more people were behind you, but since it seemed to take forever to walk from the back of the amphitheatre to the seats, i knew there were lots back there!
so total pleasant surprise to get these awesome seats.
the show was great, the roots were fun, getting all the normally subdued dc folks to dance a bit.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that vernon reid was playing guitar for the roots, how insane is that?

wilco were great. they even did some cover songs at the end!! the band looked like they were having a blast, and jeff did that fabulous running in place thing during hummingbird. got to call michele during heavy metal drummer. some new stuff, some old stuff, good mix. it was so weird being in the floor section b/c i felt totally unaware that there were a ton of people behind me, like it was a little outdoor club show.
as with every wilco show d and i have been to, there had to be some trainwreck of a couple that are in our line of sight that we couldn't stop looking at. in dc last summer, it was the white linen couple (matching outfits, faces pressed together while they talked before the show, very tall, blocking my view, and then half was through the show just decide to leave, um ok). this time it was a total scary woman dressed not to age appropriate with a boyfriend ? who are groping each other before the show even starts. egads. luckily some other people came and took them out of my direct line of sight.

what else, cleaned up the apt. since the fam is coming down on wednesday night. oh, my car got dinged to say the least in my apt. parking lot, nice. it is actually bad enough that i think it will need to be fixed. it makes me so sick to even look at. what is wrong with people?? i will save the rant for another time, but come on people, have a bit of respect for others, you know? ok, i am trying to get over this now.

i haven't seen six feet under (actually was on phone with michele at the time...) will watch tonight!!!

michele, it's not typical of people to leave notes re: denting a car when they don't really car, just remembering when you and i ran into darcy's james on melrose and then crossed down towards rudy's and there had been that fender bender and then that guy was chasing that girl...yeah. gotta love it.

michael, since you are vegitarian i would just be careful when partaking in the american aquarium drinking, if you know what i mean.
myself, i need a shot in the arm.
