Last night i went to see Nick Hornby at olsson's. how fantastic! (note: it was so fantastic that even though blogging and i are on a break, i had to write about this). so d and i ventured to the foreign land of the 703 (aka Virginia...) maybe you don't understand this, but i NEVER go to virginia. it's a different world, really. d and i went to a pubby kind of place (m, it's affiliated with the james joyce pub in baltimore that we went to when you were visiting last fall...) so we hung out there and one of my coworkers joines us. we got a decent spot at the book store not b/c we had a fab. view of nick but b/c we were the in the aisle where the line for the book signing would begin (we were maybe 12-15 people back in that line.) so nick comes out and says it's the 40th birthday of his child's mother today and could we all sing while he calls her on the phone. so everyone does, it was so funny. i am sure she was overwhelmed hearing a crowd sing via cell phone to her. nick reads for about 30 minutes (from the new book) and then takes questions for about 30 minutes as well. it was a lot of fun. bought the new book, had it signed, all good. split up with the coworker and headed back to the land of all things normal, i mean maryland (that's not actually true at all). anyway. so, the nick hornby visit was a success. if he comes to a town near you, you should attend this event.

Sounds like a fun evening. You were at Ireland's Four Courts...I love that place! They have great fish & chips. One of the few reasons I'd venture into Virginia.
